WELCOME TO MY NU JAC SWING PAGE

Check out one of The Baddest Supergroups Of All Time!
I'm ..'a Live Life 2 da Fullest! I Wanna Get Wit U - Yup Yup! Groove Me!! Do Me Right! Don't-Dog-Me-Out!

New Jack Swing:
A term originally coined by the 'Swing Don' himself, Teddy Riley, who, along with Timmy Gatling and Aaron Hall III, comprised the highly-respected funky R&B Supergroup GUY, put together by Gene Griffin in 1988. By the time of their second album: 'The Future', released in 1990, Timmy had left to be replaced by Aaron's younger brother Damion "Crazy Legs" Hall.
New Jack Swing is classic soul harmonization fused with hard-edge Hip Hop beats...also sometimes referred to as 'Heavy R&B'. Others greatly influenced by the sound, during the 90's include: R. Kelly, Jodeci, Mint Condition, and others like Big Bub and the now defunct TODAY, ARB, Five XI, Riff, Basic Black, and 911. Teddy went on to form the group Blackstreet, with great success, between the years 1994 and 1999.
These days, Teddy restricts his activity to mainly producing the new acts on his Life Of Riley (LOR) and Lil' Man Records labels, while Aaron and Damion are currently working on a new album, presumably under the name of: 'The Hall Brothers'.

For further developments, watch this space!

My classic New Jack favourites include: GUY's 'Wanna Get With U', 'Dog-Me-Out', 'My Fantasy', 'Her','Teddy's Jam 2', etc...,
Bubba's 'I Like Your Style' and 'Get Down', Hi-Five's 'I Just Can't Handle It' and RedHead Kingpin's 'Do The Right Thing'. What about JOE's classic jam'The One For Me' (containing at it's beginning, without a doubt the most famous scream in R&B/New Jack Swing?).
And what about da ladeez??!!
TLC's 'What About Your Friends' from their 1992 debut, the now disbanded SWV's 'I'm So Into You' and Pure Soul's 'I Want You Back', are just three of many I could mention here!
There are so many more and I'm sure they'll come up in 'pleasantly heated' discussion and debate later......
Lastly here, we must not forget the input of one hell of a funky-soul-brotha: Al B Sure! and the role he played in the development of this genre of music! He appears, to me, largely overlooked whenever due accolades are poured on the New Jack Funkers of the late 80's and early 90's. But those of you who know your history KNOW da deal!...when it comes to the position of this 'funk lord' in the pantheon of the Nu Jack innovators.

My personal areas of interest are as follows:
